Which Keyword Search Tool Will Give You The Edge?

Posted in: Traffic Building by admin on September 15, 2008

A good keyword search tool is essential if you intend to enter the world of internet marketing. To build traffic to your web pages you need to find keyword phrases that have sufficient daily searches and preferably not too many competing pages. Until you build up the authority on your site with back links it’s vital to create great content that targets these long tail keyword phrases.

One useful tool that is completely free to use is Googles own keyword tool, which is a great place to start. If you want to do more in depth analysis then the tool to use is Wordtracker. This is a rental service that you pay for by annual or monthly subscription, but they invariably have a try it free or a $1 trial or something similar.

Here’s the plan; decide on the markets you want to research, i.e. pet health, business credit cards, sc-fi or whatever interests you, then take up the Wordtracker special offer and start your research. Within the offer period you can generate, literally thousands of keywords; enough to keep you going for months.

Wordtracker emails your search results directly to you ready for importing into a spreadsheet. The problem now is no longer a lack of highly targeted keywords, but too many to manage efficiently. I’m no spreadsheet expert, but I found it frustrating to be inundated with all this excellent data around which you can create highly themed articles, that will boost your search engine rankings and traffic and still struggle to maximize the potential.

That problem was solved by Dr Andrew Williams and his brilliant software KRA-Pro. With so many filters and options built in, it enables you to extract hundreds of highly targeted long tail keyword phrases within minutes. This provides the opportunity to build as many themed LSI pages based on your top phrase. LSI (latent semantic indexing) is search engine food on steroids and used to advantage will give you the edge in traffic building.
