It may be the biggest cliche in internet market, but I’m going to repeat it right here:

The money is in the list!

If you have been studying IM for any time at all you will have heard (or read) that statement more than enough, but it still stands true today. Yes I know, there are many adaptations like ” the money is in a “responsive” list etc, but looking at it objectively, which would you rather have?

Why List Building Works

A visitor to your site that sees your page and makes a decision to either buy something, learn something or maybe just click off your page within seconds, probably never to return again.

Or a visitor who visits for a few seconds or maybe even 30 minutes then decides to leave, but is presented with an exit popup offering them a free report or a piece of free software that will help them. They are presented with an option of opting in to your list to get the gift or leave.

What have you to lose – they were leaving anyway so how can you upset them?

Getting your visitors to subscribe to your list requires a well presented (on topic) offer and there is a considerable effort required to get the maximum response rate. You only have a split second to trigger the right response from your departing visitor. So how do you learn how to get this right?
