How To Become A Successful Affiliate
Posted in: Affiliate Marketing by admin on December 10, 2007
Everyone who has dabbled in internet marketing will know just how competitive an industry it is. This article will attempt to teach the basics of affiliate marketing. How it works, why it works & how you can benefit from it. In this section I will include personal examples, as I’ve tried and failed in the past, just like you will!
“One of the most reliable ways of generating income online is by becoming an affiliate of already established companies, and selling their products.”
How it works, why it works & how you can benefit from it.
In this section I will include personal examples, as I’ve tried and failed in the past, just like you will!
Affiliate Marketing (AM from now on) is a truly clever concept, pioneered in its online form by Amazon online stores. They realized that if they employed third-party affiliates (or resellers/agents - call ‘em what you like!) to sell their products, they would have more outlets, more exposure, more presence. Affiliates would have an Amazon store on their own website, and every time someone bought something from their store, Amazon paid them a percentage of their profit back as commission (for promoting Amazon). It really is THAT simple.
So basically, to be an affiliate, all you do is open a shop for another company, or link to their website? Well the answer to that is… maybe. In reality, it’s not actually as straightforward. Unless you’re fortunate enough to already own a very popular website, you’re going to need to increase traffic to your website. After all, you need exposure in order to sell the company’s products, don’t you? That’s where promotion comes in.
So that’s it. The two set-in-stone steps to be a successful affiliate marketer: find products to sell and companies to work with, then expose it to potential customers. I will now attempt to explain in detail a few basic methods of promoting your affiliate links/sites and how to manage your affiliation once it’s properly promoted.
Let’s look at promotion in a little more detail. All online marketing can be done for free. Naturally, it will take a hell of a lot longer to start earning a respectable amount of money, but it’s 100% definitely possible, so here I will attempt to explain it.
The first (and most important) tool is your own, professional-looking website. Once up and running, you need to tell as many people as possible about your site. This can be done in any number of ways. My personal favourites are manual link exchanges, site directories and viral traffic systems.
Manual link exchanges offer highly targeted traffic to your site. They work because members sign up and submit their site, then visit x number of sites in order to receive traffic themselves. Of course, if every member is doing this then they will most likely be visiting sites from their category, looking for people to swap links with. Link exchange traffic isn’t really intended to be converted into sales, but rather to build a network of sites to link to yours. This will improve your search engine ranking, which will bring in visitors you can sell too.
Site directories are a fantastic way of getting targeted traffic. The directories are often choosy about which sites they accept, and that works in your favour because the visitors are usually looking for something very specific (i.e. YOUR SITE!).
So this concludes my guide on affiliate marketing and site promotion.

The most famous affiliates program was introduced by Amazon. Amazon currently has about a quarter million sites in their program. Some successful affiliates simply set up websites as doorway pages, helping and welcoming new webmasters into 2 tier affiliate programs. Benefits Of Being An Affiliate Marketer
Posted in: Affiliate Marketing by admin on November 14, 2007
Affiliate marketing has become one of the most effective ways to advertise online. It is also one of the easiest ways for anyone with a website to make a profit online and achieve affiliate marketing success. It is an agreement between the merchant and a website owner. The website owner, or the affiliate, allows the merchant to advertise on their site by linking the merchant’s website. In exchange, the merchant pays the affiliate a certain percent commission for every sale that goes through his site.
Affiliate marketing programs are a win-win situation for both the merchant and the affiliate. This is because it is paid based only on performance. The more sales you make for the merchant as an affiliate the more money you get in return. Both the merchant and the affiliate reap the reward in affiliate marketing. In the merchant’s point of view it gives them a wider market to advertise a product or service. Affiliate marketing allows their product to have maximum exposure online. In return, the affiliate makes an easy profit by simply putting up a link to the merchant’s website. The more referrals there are the more profit for the affiliate.
Affiliate marketing is becoming a terrific way to earn money at home and it is easier than even to achieve affiliate marketing success. There are virtuously no product costs and the product is developed and proven by the merchant. All you have to do is advertise and find potential consumer to buy the product. Affiliate programs are usually free to join so affiliate so don’t have worry about start up costs. There are thousands upon thousands of products you can choose from so there will be no trouble finding a product that relates to your site.
Another added bonus to affiliate marketing is that there is no sales experience required. Almost all the affiliate programs offer support when it is time to advertise the product. You can even build a successful affiliate marketing business at home. The responsibility of an affiliate marketer is to find prospect for the merchant. There is no worrying about inventory, order processing or product shipping. These are all the responsibilities of the merchant as well as customer service.
Because the Internet reaches millions of people, you can find thousands of potential buyers. You can apply more aggressive and productive tactics. Another advantage of an affiliate marketer is the minimal risk that is involved in this business. If the particular product that you choose is not making any money you can simply try another product to become affiliate with. There are no long-term contracts when it comes to affiliate marketing.
